Revalidation Guidance

iCare24 Group is committed to revalidation within the healthcare sector and is proud to be a key support for our nurses.

We have updated our appraisal documentation to reflect the revalidation process and created a range of resources, including a iCare24 Group Revalidation Pack of Templates, to support you through revalidation.

You will be required to complete your revalidation when you are due to renew your registration with the NMC. The first group nurses and midwives who will be required to go through revalidation will be those due for renewal in April 2017. This step by step guide to Revalidation has been produced to highlight important information as provided by the NMC.

Revalidation and the Code

The revalidation model aligns to the four themes of the code

Prioritise people by actively seeking and reflecting on any direct feedback received from patients, service users and others to ensure that you are able to fulfil their needs. Practice effectively by reflecting on your professional development with your colleagues, identifying areas for improvement in your practice and undertaking professional development activities. Preserve safety by practicing within your competency for the minimum number of practice hours, reflecting on feedback, and addressing any gaps in your practice through continuing professional development (CPD). Promote professionalism and trust by providing feedback and helping other NMC colleagues reflect on their professional development, and being accountable to others for your professional development and revalidation.

Recording your evidence and documents for revaldiation

The RCNi, provided by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), offers agency nurses access to online training and training articles, clinical articles, questionnaires and quizzes to test their knowledge. It also has an online portfolio where nurses can upload documents, evidence hours work and CPD, ready to print and submit for revalidation. Access to the RNi Portfolio and interactive learning resources are available outside of an RCNi journal subscription.

For more information on the RCNi Guides to Revalidation, RCNi Portfolio Pack, and RCNi subscription click below.

Visit RCNi

If you choose not to subscribe to the RCNi account, we strongly recommend that you keep a portfolio with printed copies of documents and written evidence ready to present at annual appraisals, confirmation, and revalidation with the NMC.

If you’re not planning on using the RCNi, we have attached all the forms and templates you will need to support you in recording your evidence.

Compliance

The process of reaching and maintaining compliance with government legislation and client requirements are managed for you by the iCare24 Group’s compliance team. iCare24 Group’s compliance team works with local managers, consultants and nurse recruiters, initially to ensure that all new applications are processed efficiently and accurately and to maintain each agency workers’ records at full compliance, ensuring that you never find that you are unable to work in a particular area because an item in your file is missing or has lapsed.

Once your recruitment file, including qualifications, references, health and training has been established, you will be offered work. We wil alert ou whenever any of your documentation requires updating, and you should immediately take steps to ensure that those items are updated. In most instances, many of our contracts do not offer any grace period so once a document has expired, you will be required to immediately stop working. In the case of annual training, a refresher course should be booked in good time to ensure no gaps in your work offerings. Please contact your consultant if you require any assistance. You agree to register with all the agencies under the iCare24 Group of companies included but not limited to Vitality24 and iCare24 Group.

Your timesheet is a crucial document that generates the invoice to the client and our payroll department. You must ensure that the information on these timesheets is accurate and a true reflection of hours worked. Timesheets are subject to scrutiny and audit by our own company and the client. Any discrepancies will be noted and investigated accordingly. The following guidelines will help ensure you are paid correctly and on time. Please read carefully.
